Verse 51Verses 47-50

The beginning of this passage is a strict warning to Mankind , to pay heed before they are rendered helpless, and can do nothing. There is a time coming in which Man will have to taste the fruit of his conducts. The verse NO.47 exhorts Man to be obedient to his Lord before the inevitable Day of Judgement comes, so that no one can put it back or escape the consequences of his deeds. Even no one can deny it, so as to defend some how against the evils that are the outcome of bad conducts.

But if Man does not pay heed to the warnings of a truthful warner, and rejects everything, there is no blame on the warner, whose duty is only to convey God's Message. We should not mistake a Messenger of God and a godly warner, with a guard or a protector.

Then the reference is to the people whose faith in God is not firm enough. They are wavering between having faith and being faithless:-

``And when we let Man to taste a Mercy from us, he rejoices by it, and if some evil befall them they blaspheme!''

The means of guidance are sometimes gifts and graces, and sometime afflictions and loss. Each incident, bad or good, has many lessons to teach us that we may use them in the way of our evolution and progress. Such events are the capitals of our experiences. We cannot easily decide whether the night is better or the day. Then the world is like our face with the eyes, brows, ears, nose, and mouth. Each one of these is very good and useful, when it is in its own place. Therefore so bad is our judgement that when we receive a gift out of God's Mercy, we attribute it to our own merits and knowledge; but when we are afflicted by some loss or troubles that our hands have brought it forth, we lose hope and forgot faith and blame God, while our misfortunes are all the outcome of our own wrongs and shortcomings.

Then the reference is to the kingdom and creation of God:-

``To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and earth. He creates whatever He will. He grants female to whom He will, and grants male to whom He will.''

In the above verse daughters are mentioned prior to sons, which proves that Qurän is going to restore the prestige of women.

On the other hand the Arabic, ``YAHABA'' which means granted, and implies granting of a gift, wants to tell us that our children, be they girls or boys, they are all the gifts of God. Of course, in cases they are trials and troubles too, and rarely enemies to parents!

Here again the mystery of sex and parenthood is referred to, because we may still see many fathers who like the ancient pagan Arabs, detest begetting a female child! It has happened in ancient history of Arabs that a father buried his female infant alive! Now a days too, we may see a Man who loses his tender love for his wife for having given birth a girl!

But a Moslem must know that to God belongs the kingdom of heavens and earth. God knows best what is to be created and what is not to be created. According to His Universal Plan He creates whatever is needed of male or female; and parents are no more than instruments, and means, in the hands of the All-knowing, All-power Creator of Man and Woman.
