Verses 28-29Verses 23-27

The story of Moses has been narrated in several chapters of Qurän, but not as a tediously repeated tale. In each case we come to another episode of the story, which refers to a different aspect of it, from those cited in other chapters.

Here in this episode we study the important role of a true believing courtier, who had concealed his faith, and hence this Surah (THE BELIEVER), has been named after him:-

``And verily we sent Moses with our signs, and a clear authority to Pharaoh, Hämän, and Korah; but they called Moses a lying sorcerer.''

Moses went to Pharaoh, Hämän, and Korah, with many miracles and clear evidences and reasons.

Here in this episode, Pharaoh is a terrible symbol of the class of people; cruel, rebellious, and arrogantly proud, who govern people with tyranny and unjustice.

Hämän was his minister and advisor; a symbol of Satanic Temptations, and a flatterer of any man in power.

And Korah was a wealthy exploiter, who basely made use of his wealth and position, for his own advantage and profit, ignoring the poor and needy.

The above three men belong to three classes of people, who will have an evil end. When Moses was sent to warn and admonish them for their heinous sins, they belied him and called him a lying sorcerer! They decided to kill him, but fell at variance, and then decreed to kill the male Israelites who believed in him, and spare their women for services.

The devilish governments always have evil plots against those who criticise their cruelty and indecency, and almost always their plots will coil back upon themselves. So Pharaoh and his followers fell at variance about Moses that what was to be done with him. Pharaoh said to his courtier:-- ``Let me kill Moses, and let him call his Lord to save him. I am afraid of him to change your religion and to corrupt your country.'' When Moses heard Pharaoh saying so, with a pure, firm, and sinceere faith, he said:-

I take refuge in my Lord and your lord from every proud who will not believe in the Day of Reckoning.''
