Verses 55-60Verses 51-54

Following the argument about the useful winds, we are reminded of the harmful and destructive ones:-

``And if We send a harmful wind, and they see their gardens and farms turned yellow, and grow withered, they shall return to non-belief after that.''

Such are the weak group of people with low capacity who are said to have been despaired before it rained, and rejoiced excessively, after water poured down from the sky. When a burning or destructive wind blows and causes the plants to lose freshness and wither, they may turn to their disbelief and blasphemy.

They contrast the believer who gives thanks when he receive a gift from our Lord, and when they are afflicted with some ill luck, they don't lose hope or patience. They are sure enough that their affliction must be due to some wrong deeds or evil that their own hands have earned. So they immediately repent and ask for God's forgiveness, and seek His help for amendments.

There are instances in which the wind can be destructive to tilth and even to building and all physical means of life. This is where the bounty of God may bring disaster and stroke of ill fortune, as a consequence of our evil deeds. In such a condition; contrary to the believer who seeks his Lord's help to overcome the adversity, the non-believer blaspheme and go deeper in their sin and disbelief.

In the above mentioned verses those winds that were supposed to be useful were all mentioned in plural number (RIAH), but here in this verse (NO.51) the harmful wind is mentioned in singular form (RIH), which may imply that harmful and destructive winds are exceptions and uncommon.

In the following verses (NO.52 and 53) people have been divided into four groups:-

1ِThe dead ones who are apparently alive, but do not apprehend any reality or fact.

2ِThe deafs who are not willing to hear a word of truth.

3ِThose who are deprived of seeing the face of reality.

4ِAnd there are the believers with apprehensive hearts, keen sight, and willing to listen and understand more.

If Man is willing, he can realize the signs of God, in all the creation and creatures, even in every leaf of a tree or any drop of a rain. But if he thrusts his finger in his ear, not wanting to hear, who can help him to hear? And how can he be guided to the direct path when he closes his eyes on purpose? So long as he prefers to wander in the paths of devil, and in pursuit of sense-pleasures, they cannot be guided.

Divine Teachers may only guide those who give mind to advices and warnings and submit to God's will.

In the last of the above verses, another proof of Monotheism has been put on the carpet, the object of which is power and weakness, or poverty and riches:-

``Allah is He Who created you out of weakness, and after weakness gave you strength, and....''

At the beginning you were so weak that you could not ward off a fly from yourself, and as for knowledge you knew nothing. Even you could not know your father and mother who were so kind and compassionate to you!

Gradually you became a man of strength and understanding. Yet you were not able to protect and maintain your power. You lost all that you had through reaching the old age. In our course of life we plainly see that strength comes out of weakness, and vice versa. The weak baby becomes a young powerful man, and then in declining ages, he will turn to a feeble old one. Wise is he who collects and keeps God's Graces, in the time of power and health, in order to make use of them in time of weakness and his helplessness.
