ADAM'S RETURN TO GOD

VERSE NO. 23 - 25

When Adam and Eve tasted the bad consequence of their disobedience, they repented and decided to compensate their wrong. The first step that they took was,`CONFESSION'. They acknowledged their sinfulness and said:

``Our Lord! We have indeed wronged ourselves.''

And to call for help more politely, they did not directly beg His pardon - they said to their Lord:

If you do not forgive us, and do not have your Mercy on us, we shall certainly be lost, and will be of the losers!''

Although God accepted their repentance, but the consequence of their disobedience, which according to the Law of justice, and cause and effect, was with them; for that sin they had to miss their beautiful and comfortable abode in that Garden of Bliss and Innocence. So said Allah to them: ``Get you down on earth! Some of you being enemy to some other. There you shall have an abode and means of sustenance for a short period which is your life time. Therein you will come to life, therein you will die and from the same earth We will raise you up.''

Some commentators have tried to show the story of Adam and Eve a symbolic one in their allegorical language! They describe it in imagery and spiritual forms, but this is not so necessary, because the ongoing events in the life of our first father and mother were all natural and common to all - as it is cited in the Quran! We need not create any connotation for such events that we still experience the same troubles in our daily life! Today too! when we - the children of Adam - yield to our low desire and caprices, and if we follow our inner Satanic Temptations, just like our first father, we too, shall fall in the whirlpool of troubles and misfortune, and then, no one will come to our help, except our own wisdom and God's Mercy - In fact our wisdom is a part of God's Mercy on us, which is permanent.
